TOO SAMRUK KAZ produces **underground drainage tanks EP-5 (without heating)** and **EPP-5 (with heating)** for storing residues of petroleum products, oil, lubricants, and condensate, including mixtures with water, drained from process pipelines. **EP 5 / EPP 5 tanks** are also permitted for storing aggressive chemical products.

The **EP-5 m³ and EPP-5 m³ tanks** are manufactured in accordance with **GOST R 52630-2012 "Welded Steel Vessels and Apparatus. General Technical Specifications"**; and **TU.1415.004-466214309-2008**. The quality of our 5 m³ EP / EPP type tanks is confirmed by **Permit for Use No. RRS.00-047039** and **Certificate of Conformity No. Ross.RU.AV17.po1286**.

DESIGN OF EP-5M3 DRAINAGE TANK WITHOUT HEATING

The **5 m³ tank** is structurally a horizontal cylindrical steel apparatus with conical dished ends. Two hatches are built into the body of the 5 m³ metal tank. **Hatch 1** is used for tank maintenance, and **Hatch 2** is for pumping product out of the tank using a semi-submersible electric pump unit. The projection of the tank hatches is more than 1 m, so during transportation to the installation site, the hatches and nozzles are cut at a distance of 0.4 m from the shell.

The pump's electric motor is protected by a technological well (included in the delivery set).

For monitoring the technological process, nozzles and fittings are provided for a level gauge, thermometer, and pressure gauge.

 

DESIGN OF EPP-5M3 DRAINAGE TANK WITH HEATING

The **EPP-5** represents a standard 5 m³ drainage tank, equipped with a heating device and, at the customer's request, thermal insulation. NIKOILS ERVICE produces two types of EPP-5 tanks based on the heating system:

- **EPP Tank with electric heating**, heating is carried out using a self-regulating heating cable.

 

 

- **EPP Tank with coil**, the design includes a built-in heater in the form of a coil. Saturated water vapor, water, or 60% DEA can be used as the heat carrier. The tank is additionally equipped with metal structures for a heated well.

 

The choice of heating device type is made jointly with the Customer based on the specifics of the stored product and the tank's placement site.

THERMAL INSULATION OF EPP-5M3 DRAINAGE TANK

The thermal insulation of the standard EPP tank produced by NIKOILS ERVICE is performed by spraying rigid polyurethane foam (PUF). The spraying is applied to the tank structure on the outside.

The characteristics of the PUF thermal insulation layer are determined individually for each tank based on the chemical composition and required temperature of the stored product, the climate at the tank's location, etc. Overall energy losses as a result of insulation are reduced by at least 40%.

Spraying rigid polyurethane foam on 5 m³ EPP tanks is an effective solution because it provides not only thermal insulation but also air and vapor insulation. PUF has high resistance to aggressive environments and maximum adhesion density to the tank surfaces (1.0-1.5 kg/cm²). Therefore, the PUF layer is an excellent anti-corrosion coating.

To give the thermal insulation layer additional strength, a protective polyurea membrane is applied over the PUF. The membrane also increases the service life (from 35 years) of the coating and, accordingly, the tank.

Also, at the customer's request, NIKOILS ERVICE practices thermal insulation of EPP tanks by installing mineral wool and a protective layer of galvanized steel. This type of thermal insulation is more budget-friendly but has a number of disadvantages compared to PUF, namely lower vapor permeability indicators, the presence of seams on the protective layer, and a shorter service life.
